The people of Mid Wales are a friendly and gregarious lot. We know how lucky we are to live here and we don’t want to keep it to ourselves. We want to share the joy. So we like to put on events, lots of them...and they do seem to have caught on.
The Hay Festival, for example, and the Royal Welsh Show Green Man Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival and Machynlleth Comedy Festival. The sort of events that people organise their year around. Like the Wales Rally GB or the Tour of Britain cycle race, to which Mid Wales devotes its fastest forest tracks and most spectacular ascents. Because there’s no point doing things by halves. Whatever you like to do, whenever you want to come, you’ll find an event that does it your way.
Indoor events and outdoor events, adventurous events and agricultural events, arty and crafty events, foodie events and quirky events (bog snorkelling a speciality). Better narrow it down a bit.

Fancy a personal tour of a private castle site? Then we have a very special treat for you in 2017! Stapleton Castle occupies a commanding position on the hill overlooking Presteigne. It has no public access, due to the perilous state of the ruins. However for 2015 we are pleased to announce that the owners, Trefor & Margaret Griffiths, are offering guided walks to private parties around the site. Tours last a minimum of one hour and include the site of the 12th century castle, the ruins of the 17th century house, the mill site and a relaxing stroll through the gardens.
