Biking and cycling
Exactly how dirty do you want to get? Because you and your bike might well require a serious hose down after some of our epic cross-country adventures.
Mountain biking hotspots at Machynlleth, Rhayader, Llanwrtyd Wells and the Brecon Beacons National Park offer dedicated waymarked trails – and a whole network of tracks and bridleways if you prefer to go off-piste.
But don’t worry if you’re not quite ready for the Talgarth Black Killer Loop. Or you just prefer to keep your bike nice and clean. We cater for all sorts.
There are four different routes out of Machynlleth, for example. Mach 1 is nice and gentle, Mach 2 and Mach 3 get progressively tougher and steeper. And Cli-Machx takes you high into Dyfi Forest before firing you down the longest descent in Wales.
Our cyclists are a pretty mixed bunch too. Some of them have Sir Bradley Wiggins in their sights. They want to trace the route of the Tour of Britain, follow the Radnor Ring or take the 250-mile ride of a lifetime that is Lôn Las Cymru.
The rest of us might prefer something a little flatter. Especially if we’ve got the kids in tow. Fortunately there are traffic-free family trails at Elan Valley, Radnor Forest, the “Mon and Brec” canal and all the way around Lake Vyrnwy.
