Family days out

We know what it’s like. If your kids aren’t enjoying themselves, you won’t be having much fun either. But we can help.

For a start Mid Wales is so handily placed you probably won’t have come too far. Which tends to keep the “are we nearly there yet?” conversations to a minimum.

We also have lots to keep them busy once they’re here, climbing trees, running through fields, splashing about in streams, that sort of thing.

Then we take it to the next level. We bring in the professionals from places like Quackers Indoor Play Centre near Llandrindod Wells or the Play Barn at Brecon with its log ramps, dangling snakes, giant balls and astraslide.

At Cantref Adventure Farm near Brecon your little darlings don’t just get 20,000 square feet of safe indoor fun in the well-named Super Gigantic Play Zone. They can feed lambs, ride on tractors and swoop down Europe’s biggest sledge ride. They can see a chinchilla being bathed and some pigs having a race and they can say hello to Blodwyn the water buffalo, Gertie the goat and Harpo the llama.

That should be enough to be getting on with. Unless they’d like to crank the handles on a mind-boggling array of mechanical marvels at Machinations near Machynlleth, Britain’s only museum of moving toys, or see the only wolves in the Brecon Beacons National Park at the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary in Abercrave,as well as lots of very funny chimps, baboons and marmosets, obviously.
