Directions:
-
Start at the Tan y Mur car park.
-
Go to road and turn right towards centre of town.
-
Do not enter town square but carry on along Princes Street.
-
Go down hill ignoring turning off to Chirbury and Shrewsbury. At next right turn to Forden cross over to pavement between the roads and carry along road signposted Newtown.
-
Carry along pavement until just past de-restriction signs. As road bears round to right cross over very carefully to gate into field with a metal footpath finger post.
-
Go through gate and then right up through field on grass path to entrance to wood.
-
Soon after entering wood take the path to right leading to a wooden footpath gate.
-
Go through gate and follow well marked path through woodland until you reach a stile and go over into a field.
-
Follow field path initially going slightly downhill then straight ahead with the hedge on your right coming up to meet you. In a short distance and near the highest point of the hedge you will find a metal footpath gate in the hedge.
-
Proceed through gate and turn left in the direction of a grain silo tower.
-
As you drop down diagonally through the field a hedge comes into view and you need to aim for a metal gate about 2/3rds along the hedge.
-
Through the gate and then aim slightly uphill towards a gap in the line of coniferous trees. As you rise up then aim for a gap in trees with a hill behind (i.e. to the left of the previous gap). A dip will come into view with a double metal gate which you need to go through.
-
Go through the gates bearing right towards large concrete slurry pit and footpath gate in hedge.
-
Through the gate and then straight across the field to double metal gates in corner of hedge.
-
After the gates, keep the hedge on your left for a few metres until you reach a footpath gate in the hedge.
-
Once through the gate go slightly left to top left corner of field to another footpath gate. Notice the Montgomeryshire War Memorial slightly to the right on the far hill as you walk up the field.
-
After the gate turn right towards barns which you will reach through another footpath gate in the corner of the field and another into the farmyard. Take care as cattle usually in this area.
-
Go straight ahead through the farmyard and out through the farm gate onto a drive which leads to the Hill Road.
-
Turn left along this lane and back into Montgomery.
