Newtown to Pwll Penarth Nature Reserve

Newtown to Pwll Penarth Nature Reserve

Description

Starting at Gravel car park, walk along Gas Street carry on, passing The Bank (a group of restored 16th century half timbered cottages, possibly named from the town’s defensive bank stretching to the river) Follow the path over the Ha Penny Bridge. (Built to replace a bridge 40 metres upstream, sometimes called Kings Bridge as Mr King was the toll keeper and had a little cubby hole on the town side of the bridge), Turn right along the raised flood bank and walk along the surfaced track past the Old Pump House. Stay on the path for a further mile (route marked the Severn Way) till you come to Pwll Penarth Nature Reserve. (From here the ruins of the first Dolfor Lock are clearly visible) We hope that you enjoy your walk.
