Nantmel Community Trail

Nantmel Community Trail

Description

The Nantmel Community Trail starts and finishes in the car park by the War Memorial. It is approximately 3¾ miles in distance following country lanes and Public Rights of Way through undulating farmland past Llyn Gwyn lake. The trail passes through gates on agricultural land and country lanes, no stiles are in place. From the car park follow the signs and cross the A44 heading South-West onto a quiet country lane. After around 90 yards you will cross over the River Dulas, from this point follow the waymarked posts along the lane for another mile or so up to the entrance to Cefnllyn Farm. Proceed South through the farmyard following the waymarked route across fields heading South-West again. Please follow the route closely along this stage as it passes through working farmland where livestock are kept. Please ensure any dogs are kept under close control and are not allowed to run freely. After about ½ a mile from Cefnllyn farmyard you will pass by Llyngwyn, a 17 acre or so natural lake. Continue through the fields along the waymarked path until you reach a field gate leading onto a stone road. Follow the waymarked stone road North until you reach the public highway where you turn North East, following this road and the waymarked posts for around another ¾ of a mile until you turn South-East heading again. Along this lane to your East you will pass by the former site of Nantmel tip which is now a thriving haven for wildlife. At the road junction near the entrance to Cefnllyn farm turn East and follow the lane you started out on for around 1¼ miles back towards the bridge over the river Dulas before crossing back over the A44 to Nantmel village. Three new picnic benches have been provided in Nantmel village near the car park for the enjoyment of users of the trail and a bench at the bus stop has also been provided to assist users using public transport to access the trail.
