People think big in Newtown. Over the years the town has produced Britain’s first socialist, the inventor of mail order and two sisters who amassed one of the world’s finest private art collections.
In the 19th century it swaggered on the international stage as a hub of the flannel industry. Today it's home to the prestigious Gregynog Festival of classical music and one of the leading visual arts centres in Wales.
