Hay Fever 2017
Are you sitting comfortably? then I shall begin…
Close your eyes, picture yourself sitting in a deck chair with the sun on your back, a cool drink in your hand and a book in your hands,
Your favourite author wanders past nodding a friendly hello as you would to greet a neighbour, they carry on walking and merge into the lively bustle of book lovers, the excited hum of stories waiting to be told continues to grow around you.
The sounds of fantastic bands playing in intimate venues, the smells of local produced quality foods sizzling and smoking and the atmosphere which is filled with creativity, positivity and possibility.
Although now world famous for its antiquities and second hand books its not just in Hay On Wye where you will be treated to these delights, You’ll find bookshops all around Mid Wales, ones that look like they have fallen straight out of a fantastical story themselves,
Ones with big wooden doors that creak when you open them, ones with shelves of leather bound books waiting to be inhaled, and some with piles and piles of precariously stacked second hand novels waiting to be re-read again for the first time.
Books are important to us, perhaps its because on our few and far between rainy days we know theres nothing better than being able to cwtch up in front of a warm fire with a cup of hot coffee and a fabulous story.
What could possibly make this any better? well, Mid Wales My Way will be at The Hay Festival this year telling you all about all the "Offa's" of the county, Myths and Legends, Muddy Wellies, Many Wonders and providing our littlest visitors to the stand with activities including a Myths and Legends "colouring in" take home sheet and Many Wonders in the form of growing your very own magical bean :-)
Theres a competition for the grown ups too, but never fear ... if you can't make it to the festival you can enter via our social media on Facebook www.facebook.com/midwalesmyway
lets finish this off with a quote;
“What I say is, a town isn’t a town without a bookstore. It may call itself a town, but unless it’s got a bookstore, it knows it’s not foolin’ a soul.”
― Neil Gaiman, American Gods
