Builth Wells Town Walk: Golf Links Walk

Gates and stiles.

 

Follow the River Wye up the tree lined avenue away from the bridge. You will pass a sculpture of leaping salmon carved from a standing tree (Pic 1). Continue through the park to the confluence of the Wye and Irfon at the Aber Pool (Pic 2). Follow the Irfon up to the Suspension Bridge. Cross the bridge and bear right, following the road along for about 500 m until you reach the driveway of Park Wells on your left. Follow the driveway up to the metal fence, just before the Park Wells buildings. Go through the gate on your left marked with a footpath sign. Keeping the fence on your right continue to the top of the field, do not cross the first stile on your right here but follow the fence around to your left keeping the woods to your right. The path is not very clear here. Cross the next stile into the woods and follow the path to your left until you reach a green lane running downhill between the golf greens. Turn left and follow the lane down through an avenue of trees, and across the greens passing the Clubhouse on your left. At the road turn left following the road back to the suspension bridge and the Groe Park.
