All Ability

If you're not a regular cyclist, you can hire specialist and alternative bikes from hubs in prominent locations at Elan Valley Visitor Centre and Drovers Cycles in Hay on Wye. Regardless of your needs, you'll be able to enjoy cycling in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Both hire sites have trained staff who will be able help with any questions, give you a demonstration, provide information on safe cycling routes and make sure that you have a perfect cycling experience. Please visit the individual websites to check opening times and prices. We recommend that you call the centre in advance to ensure someone will be available to help you. Both locations have disabled-friendly facilities such as toilets, a range of accessories, car park, a wealth of local knowledge, and a 'try before you hire' area available. We have carefully selected these alternative bikes to remove barriers to cycling and make the countryside more accessible for everyone.

Specialist bikes available:

Handcycle hire - both sites have a handcycle available to hire. The Excelerator is practical for cyclists with a diverse range of needs. It is relatively easy to board, stable and provides an excellent cycling experience.

Side by Side bike hire - The Twister will cater for most easy access needs and is perfect for the shared cycling experience. It's available at both sites. The pedals can be fixed on the passenger's side for cyclists who are unable to pedal.

Electric bike hire - Both hire sites offer the option of an electric bike if you need the extra help they give on steep hills. If you want to explore the countryside with less effort then an electric bike is the perfect choice. Drovers Holidays also offer an electric mountain bike range.

Tandem hire - If you're looking for a shared cycling experience with family or friends a tandem is the perfect way to explore the countryside. They are also ideal for those that are not confident or can't ride a bike on their own.
