Discover Powys with Your Four-Legged Friends

Pet Friendly Powys

Welcome to Pet-Friendly Powys—a place where you and your animal companions can enjoy the beauty of Wales together. From scenic trails and peaceful lakes to welcoming towns and villages, Powys is the perfect destination for those who love to travel with their pets.

Whether you’re bringing a dog, a cat, or something more exotic, you’ll find plenty of space to roam, rest, and explore—all while feeling right at home.

Exploring the Outdoors with Your Pet

Powys offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. Hike through the Brecon Beacons, wander quiet woodland trails, or enjoy a picnic by one of our many rivers or reservoirs. There are open spaces and marked paths to suit every pace and paw size.

A Note on the Countryside Code

To help protect our landscapes, wildlife, and working farms, we kindly ask all pet owners to follow the Countryside Code while exploring:

  • Keep dogs on a short lead between 1 March and 31 July, and at all times around livestock. This protects nesting birds, lambs, and young animals.

  • Stick to marked trails unless open access land is clearly indicated.

  • Always clean up after your pet—even in remote areas—and dispose of waste responsibly.

  • Do not allow dogs to chase wildlife or farm animals under any circumstances.

Following these simple steps ensures everyone—visitors, locals, and animals—can enjoy Powys safely and respectfully.
