Mid Wales is an endless source of inspiration for adventurers, history buffs, and nature lovers alike. Whether you're chasing thrills or tranquility, you'll find your perfect escape here. Why not kick off your year with:

  • Discovering Elan Valley: Marvel at the Victorian dams and reservoirs nestled in a landscape of rolling hills, perfect for hiking, cycling, or a scenic picnic.

  • Walking Offa’s Dyke Path: Follow the historic border route and enjoy breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside while connecting with centuries of history.

  • Exploring Market Towns: Wander through towns like Brecon, Llanidloes, and Machynlleth, where independent shops, farmers' markets, and cozy cafés await.

  • Stargazing in Bannau Brycheiniog: As an International Dark Sky Reserve, Mid Wales offers unparalleled opportunities to lose yourself in the magic of the night sky.

A Dark Sky Haven

When the sun sets, Mid Wales transforms into a stargazer’s paradise. Home to several Dark Sky Reserves, including the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) and the Elan Valley, our skies are some of the clearest in the UK. Wrap up warm, head outside, and marvel at the Milky Way stretching across the heavens. January is one of the best times of year for stargazing, so don’t miss it!

No visit to Mid Wales is complete without indulging in our culinary delights. From artisan cheese and freshly baked bara brith to locally brewed ales and award-winning lamb, your taste buds are in for a treat.
