Powys sparkles with festive cheer this winter. From cosy Christmas markets and enchanted woodland walks to majestic castles and glittering lights, there truly is something for everyone.
24–25 November – Royal Welsh Winter Fair, Builth Wells
Kick off the season at the Royal Welsh Showground. This sprawling rural fair will feature crafts, food stalls, seasonal shopping, displays, and family-friendly activities.Dates: 24 & 25 November 2025
26–30 November – Hay Festival Winter Weekend, Hay‑on‑Wye
Enjoy storytelling, music, comedy, and children’s workshops at the winter edition of the Hay Festival. On 28 November, the Hay Christmas Lights Switch-On transforms Memorial Square: Santa arrives by steam engine, local festivities fill the streets, and the magical lights go live around 6:30 pm.
28 November – A Merry Little Christmas with Only Men Aloud, Albert Hall, Llandrindod Wells

30 November – January – An Enchanted Christmas at Powis Castle, Welshpool
Step into an illuminated courtyard and a world of Narnia charm. Enjoy family-friendly seasonal experiences set in a magical castle.
Weekends until 22 December – Magical Winter Woodland Grotto, Elan Valley
Meet elves, write your Christmas wish list, and explore a woodland trail filled with seasonal surprises.
11 December – Scrooge with Live Music, Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon
Experience a festive film night like no other: Scrooge (1951) screened with a live orchestral score by FB Pocket Orchestra. A magical blend of cinema and live performance.
12 December – Flying Start Christmas Party, Llandrindod Wells
A free, family-friendly event organised by Powys County Council. Games, music, festive fun, and joy for children await.
